Frequently asked questions
What is counselling?
Is counselling confidential?
Yes. Anything that is discussed during counselling is confidential. Candid discussions allow for the psychologist to have a deeper understanding of issues and conflicts, helping to make the counselling more effective. Should information need to be shared with other parties, a written consent form will be needed from the client.
How many counselling sessions will I need?
The process is different for every person. The time needed to resolve issues will depend on the circumstances and presenting issues of each person. Zipporah will work at a pace that is both sensitive and beneficial to resolving the presenting issues, and achieving realistic outcomes. Counselling may be a long term or short term process, depending on the requirements of the situation.
Can I use private health insurance?
Yes. Zipporah is registered with most private health insurance companies.
Can I receive Medicare rebates?
Yes. You must first obtain a letter of referral and a Mental Health Care Plan from a GP. This will determine your Medicare rebate eligibility and session allowances. Where the client is eligible for Medicare, Zipporah will provide receipts to claim the Medicare rebate.
Do I need a referral from a GP to receive counselling?
No. You are not required to have a referral unless you are eligible and would like to receive Medicare rebates.
How do I make an appointment?
To make an appointment, please contact Zipporah Oliver O.A.M. by phone at 0438 345 770, or (03) 9527 3727, email at people@zoliver.com.au or use the contact form on the “Contact Us" page.

Do you provide long-distance counselling?

What are the fees?
A session (50 minutes) is $195. Medicare rebates are available if you have a Mental Health Care Plan and a referral from a GP. Private health insurance rebates may be available to clients with applicable private health cover.
